The nook color is a great alternative to the i-pad.
The nook color has provided great amusement for my 9 year old twins. They received the nook color for Christmas in place of the unaffordable i-pads that “Santa” could not afford. With one of the twins having Autism and both having learning disabilities, the Nook Color is amazing at helping them read the recommended 20 minutes a day. Although most of the apps sold by Barnes and Noble, are sparse, and most of them are $.99. There are some excellent learning apps available to help with math, dexterity etc. And please don’t forget the wonderful kid friendly free books available too.
I give the nook color an A-. (The minus for the limited apps available.)
